Leslie Fraser is an artist based in Nova Scotia, dividing her time between Cole Harbour and the coastal community of Malagash. Inspired by the natural environments she explores on the beaches and trails; her work frequently features wildlife—especially birds—rendered in detailed ink on watercolour paper. She also produces vibrant, abstract paintings in oil and acrylic, offering a contrasting visual approach that continues to centre nature as a unifying theme.
Fraser studied songbirds and their habitats at Dalhousie University before dedicating many years to raising and home-educating her four children. As her family grew more independent, she expanded her artistic practice, emerging as a self‑taught artist in 2017. Her work has since been exhibited across Nova Scotia and is included in private collections internationally.
“Life and nature are full of beauty, whether focusing on the fine details or the broader landscape. Time spent in nature helps me take in the bigger picture and notice the little aspects. When I draw even more elements emerge that I didn’t perceive at first”
